Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, the craftsmanship speaks to a time when even weather instruments were works of art. The barometer dial is marked with weather indicators such as “BEAU TEMPS,” “VARIABLE,” and “TEMPÊTE,” encircling beautifully aged brass mechanics. A matching thermometer, marked in échelle centigrade, offers a poetic way to keep an eye on the temperature—à la française.
